EMULTAN EF
Emulsifier for manufacturing fast cationic emulsions for asphalts.

DESCRIPTION
Alquilamine - imidazoline.

ASPECT
Dark viscous liquid. Aspect and color changes do not imply a change in the product’s properties.

SOLUBILITY
Low in water with neutral pH. At pH 2 a stable dispersion is produced.

DOSAGE
The quantity of the emulsifier depends, among other things, of the type of asphalt, and the quantity of dust contained in the aggregates. The emulsifier dosage is generally between 0.25 and 0.35 % (from 2.5 to 3.5 Kg per ton of finished emulsion).

PRESENTATION
Iron drums of 200 Kg each.

ADETAN 10
ADETAN 10 is an aminic additive of cationic polarity specifically designed for the bonding of bituminic materials on surfaces with negative charge.

CHEMICAL COMPOSITION
Alkyl-Amine-Amide-Imidazoline

PROPERTIES
ADETAN 10 improves the bonding on arid silicated soils due to its cationic charge. ADETAN 10 removes the layer that is usually covering the surfaces of negative charge and so improves the bonding over the arid asphalt road.

DOSAGE

ADETAN 10 is applied in 0.2 / 0.3% solution over the asphalt road obtaining up to 90/95% of covering .

PROCEDURE
ADETAN 10 is spread (poured) over the asphalt road by means of a pump and then it is kept moving until a complete homogenization. It is not convenient to exposure over 180º C during long periods.

PACKAGING
ADETAN 10 is delivered in metallic drums of 200 litres.

EMULTAN SL
Emulsion-generating product used to manufacture cationic, slow and super-stable asphalt emulsions.

DESCRIPTION
Amine-amide-imidazoline from a mixture of natural and synthetic resins.

APPEARANCE
Reddish-brown powder.

SOLUBILITY
Not very soluble in water at neuter pH, but at pH 1-2 and if shaken, dissolution is total.

PROPERTIES
Properties of the emulsion produced depend on :
-The nature and type of asphalt used.
-EMULTAN SL dosage
-Water solution pH.

While these factors should be evaluated in lab conditions first, EMULTAN SL can be used to manufacture slow, super-stable, high-quality emulsions with most types of road asphalt.
EMULTAN SL also works with various types of rocks, in the manufacture of slow-breaking, fast-curing emulsions (set time < 15 min) used to produce asphalt layers that need to be rapidly open for traffic, as well as super-stable emulsions that demand prolonged mixing without breaking the emulsion.

TESTS USING EMULTAN SL
Tests were performed on two samples: Sample A at 0.55% (ph 1.8) and Sample B at 0.65% (pH 1.9) according to ASTM D 244 standards. Asphalt cement used was 70/100 type, with the following properties:

Penetration 0.1 mm, 25°C, 100 g 5 sec 71
Softening point º C 52.5
Ductility cm, 25º C, 5 cm/min > 100
Oliensis negative
Density at 25º C 0.991

DOSAGE
EMULTAN SL recommended dosage range is between 0.5 - 0.8% for slow and/or super-stable emulsions (5-8 kg. per ton of finished emulsion).

USE
For better dissolution, it is advisable to load 50% of the water to be used in the emulsion, and heat up to 60-70º C. Add 80-90% of the hydrochloric acid required (calculate 0.7 kg of acid per kg of EMULTAN SL). Spray EMULTAN SL while shaking the mix vigorously for 30 minutes. Add the rest of the water and acid and check that pH reaches the desired level. Take into account temperature at the time of reading.

PACKAGING
30 Kg (net weight) palletized bags.
